Sun Prairie Rising is completely volunteer driven and relies on contributions from readers for content. We strive to reflect the diversity of concerns and perspectives in our community and welcome submissions of all kinds. We feature original reporting, opinions and editorials as well as photography and information on local events.
Freelance writers, emerging journalists or students with strong writing and skills are encouraged to submit story ideas or finished pieces for consideration to be featured on Sun Prairie Rising.
We cover a breadth of timely and evergreen articles across a variety of subjects from local news, arts and culture, to profiles of inspiring volunteer organizations and community events.
Sun Prairie Rising only publishes work that is deemed relevant to local residents of Sun Prairie, WI and meets professional standards based on original reporting and writing. All decisions on what to publish are the sole discretion of the Editor-In-Chief.
At this time we do not offer any payment for articles published on Sun Prairie Rising.

GENERAL POLICY & VALUE GUIDELINES:
Whenever possible we prefer to publish original, verified, well-sourced reporting. Plagiarism from other news sources is unacceptable. While online resources can be valuable tools for research and grammatical/typographical accuracy, we do not allow generative AI written pieces and insist on human verification and original writing. We expect writers to be aware of and follow ethical standards of journalism. In general we prefer to use the AP style guide. We do not monitor or police contributors social media but do require writers to avoid conflicts of interest on the topics they cover so that our sources, clients and readers have confidence in our commitment to being fair and accurate. We encourage contributors to share their work on social media accounts and tag @sunprairierising so we can amplify your stories.
