In an effort to encourage random acts of kindness in Sun Prairie, a local attorney and former City Council alder is sponsoring a monthly random drawing to reward people for doing good deeds around town.
Brent Eisberner of Levine Eisberner, LLC wanted to come up with a new way to incentivize residents to do some good. Soon the “Sun Prairie Kindness Project” was born. He had planned to kick it off in April, but started receiving submissions almost immediately after he started posting online about it in March.
“I know people don’t need to be rewarded to be kind,” Eisberner said, “But I want to give something to those that help make Sun Prairie a better place.”
There’s very little involved in entering. In fact, you can simply submit your name, even without doing a good deed. But the goal is definitely to inspire kindness and create more positive, helpful acts around town.
The only requirement to enter is to fill out the following form online: https://forms.gle/4kRSwkDfPQPi3iiu8
Each month, a random name will be drawn from the submissions to win $100.
If you know of someone doing good who might be a good candidate, nominations can be sent in on their behalf by e-mailing: sunprairiekindnessproject@gmail.com. Make sure and include contact information of the person being nominated so they can be notified if they win.
Eisberner provided some examples of what can count as a good deed:
- Helping a neighbor
- Picking up trash
- Supporting someone going through a tough time
- Any act that makes Sun Prairie a little better
The genesis of the idea started with videos on TikTok and elsewhere of people hiding money as a scavenger hunt. While that sounded like fun, Eisberner wanted to follow a path to encourage positive change. If the idea gains momentum, he would love to grow it into something bigger for the community.
The winner of the first $100 in the Sun Prairie Kindness Project was selected the first week of April. While the winner has been notified, as of April 2nd, Eisberner is waiting to set a time to meet up at a public place to to give them the $100. The winners initials are ‘EB’, but they wanted themselves and their act to remain anonymous, so he felt it was important to honor their wishes.
Eisberner is a Shareholder Attorney with Eisberner Levine, LLC and was elected to Alder on the Sun Prairie City Council for District 2 in 2022 before stepping down to run for Municipal Judge in 2023.
He served as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps and continues to volunteer time with the Veterans Law Society, providing free legal services to veterans in need.
